Welcome to 18th annual ASPA international conference (ASPA 2014) which to be held in Shiraz, Iran, October 15-18, 2014.
ASPA annual conference is an international refereed conference held once a year with the presentation and publication of outcomes of research and development activities in aspects of STPs. All managers and staff of STPs, faculty members in technology and entrepreneurship management fields, entrepreneurs, technopreneurs and technology development investors, R&D managers, technology development policy makers, technology development and technology management experts are invited to come together to share their knowledge and experiences in this important discipline that has impacts on many aspects of our daily lives.

Professor Fred Phillips
Professor Fred Phillips joined the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2011 as Professor and
Program Chair. He is also a Senior Fellow at the IC2 Institute of the
University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Phillips is Editor-in-Chief of Elsevier's international journal Technological
Forecasting & Social Change. In earlier years he held teaching, research,
honorary, or management positions at the Universities of Aston and Birmingham in
England, General Motors Research Laboratories, Market Research Corporation of
America, and Battelle-Pacific Northwest National Laboratories.
Dr. Phillips has been a consultant to such organizations as Intel, Texas
Instruments, and Frito-Lay Inc., and has consulted worldwide on technology based
regional development. Through his consulting firm, General Informatics LLC, he
and his team have worked on projects for World Bank, UNESCO, and the US
Environmental Protection Agency. Fred is a founder of the Austin Technology
Council, and was also a Board member for the Software Association of Oregon. He
is a popular op-ed columnist and panel member in forums dealing with trends in
management, technology, higher education, and economic development.

Professor Hirohisa UchidaProfessor Hirohisa Uchida was born in Tokyo in 1949. He received his B.Eng. in Applied Physics in 1973 and his M.Eng. in Materials Science in 1975 from Tokai University. In 1977 he received his Ph.D. with his in Metallurgy from the University of Stuttgart.

Professor Goodarz Ahmadi
Professor Goodarz Ahmadi is a Clarkson Distinguished Professor, and Robert R. Hill Professor of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering at Clarkson University. He has been serving as the Dean of Engineering of the Coulter School of Engineering at Clarkson in the last seven years.
His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy, NASA, Corning, IBM, Xerox, Dura Pharmaceutical, NYSTAR and AFOSR.
He has authored three books and over 550 publications in archival journals. He also has made over 1000 presentations at national and international technical conferences and has given more that 150 invited talks and short courses at other institutions. He is a Fellow of ASME, ISME and ISCE and an honorary member of Academy of Science of Iran.

Professor Munir Nayfeh
A leading World physicist in Nanotechnology, was born in 1945. He earned a Ph.D. in Physics from Stanford University, and started to work at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and then at Yale University, before joining the Physics Faculty at the University of Illinois in 1979.
Professor Nayfeh holds a large number of issued patents in the field of nano silicon, and he is the author of many published papers and books in Electricity, Magnetism and Lasers. He received the Industrial Research 100, the Energy 100, Beckman and ATT prizes. Professor Nayfeh is the president of NanoSi Advanced Technologies, Inc, which he founded to manufacture nano silicon and develop advanced high tech devices for renewable energy and lighting, nano electronics and nano biomedicine.

Professor Martti LaunonenProfessor Launonen is a leading expert in the development of innovation,
and science and technology environments, based on company interests
as well as national and regional policies. He has worked with companies, technology centers, business incubators, city officials and ministries
around the globe in over 200 cases (USA, UK, France, Japan, Canada, France, Russia, South-Korea, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Croatia, Poland, South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana, Brasil, Namibia, Thailand and Hong Kong)
Professor Launonen has published the Book in February 2011: “Hubconcepts™–The Global Best Practice for Managing Innovation Ecosystems and Hubs”; including analysis on science and technology parks, regional innovation ecosystems and innovation collaboration, based on case studies in Asia, Europe and North America 2008-2010.

Professor Arcot Desai NarasimhaluProfessor Desai has around 40 years of innovation experience in ICT software across areas such as telecommunication, information retrieval, information security, video and image processing, Electronic CAD, data base systems and multimedia. His team’s innovations have been either licensed to large enterprises including multinationals or translated into technology startups. He has spent the last 15 years helping innovators and entrepreneurs start companies. He and his team have helped 74 groups start up new technology enabled companies since September 2009. These companies received around 3.5 million Singapore dollars in grants and about 9 million Singapore dollars in investments. He has been writing his innovation experience as a workbook that innovative entrepreneurs could use.

Professor Darius MahdjoubiProfessor Darius Mahdjoubi is Research Associate at the Innovation, Creativity and Capital (IC2) Institute of UT-Austin, and Adjunct Professor at the MBA Entrepreneurship program of St. Edward's University in Austin, and School of Entrepreneurship of Tehran University. He was Visiting Professor at the Art and Technology Institute (ATEC) of UT-Dallas. He also taught parttime at two universities in Portugal. In 2005 he was an advisor to the Innovation School in Norway to set up a new Master in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He studies, teaches and provides consulting services on Action Business Planning, Business Ideation, Innovation Commercialization and Regional Systems of Innovation. Prof. Mahdjoubi has an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. degree from The University of Texas at Austin. He conducted his interdisciplinary dissertation - entitled Knowledge, Innovation and Entrepreneurship - under the mentorship of the late Dr. George Kozmetsky. He is also a professional engineer and focuses his practice in management of innovation, engineering management, intrapreneurship, and factory design.

Professor Mostafa Karimian EghbalProfessor Eghbal has been one of the pioneers for establishment of science and technology parks and incubators in Iran. He was the president of Isfahan Science and Technology Town (ISTT) and Deputy Minister of Technology in the Minister of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT) until 2005. Professor Eghbal has been involved in the development of concept of incubation and science parks based on local conditions. He was a co-signatory in the formation of Asian Science Park Association (ASPA) in Shenyang, China in 2000. He also promoted the strong participation of Iranian parks and incubators in the International Association of Science Parks and formation of West Asia Division of IASP. He served as the member of Advisory Council of the International Association of Science Parks from 2008 to 2010. Professor Eghbal recently joined MSRT again as the General Director of Technology Development and assumed the responsibility of overseeing STPs and incubators in Iran.
